Project Manager:

Responsibilities

  • Develop reusable tools for the management and manipulation of data
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of data collection, storage, and retrieval processes
  • Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
  • Work closely with data analysts to construct creative solutions for their analysis tasks
  • Optimize our infrastructure at both the software and hardware level
  • Focus on scaling horizontally rather than vertically

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working with large data stores
  • Deep understanding of storage appliance and storage software internals
  • Expert knowledge developing and debugging in C/C++ and Java
  • Experience developing with Python, Ruby, or PHP
  • Experience with filesystems, server architectures, and distributed systems

User Interface Engineer (User Interaction Design):

Responsibilities

  • Work with designers to implement and maintain user-facing features for an audience of millions
  • Ship products of the highest quality through strict attention to visual and interaction details
  • Utilize and contribute to OpenSource UI libraries
  • Code primarily using PHP and Javascript
  • Identify and communicate best practices for front-end engineering

Requirements

  • Expertise in PHP, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX
  • Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable code for common UI components in PHP and Javascript
  • Ability to create interfaces that are fast, consistent across browsers, and demonstrate an intimate knowledge of browser quirks and best practices
  • Extremely detail oriented down to pixel-perfect implementation
  • Experience crafting efficient, optimized, and speed-minded code
  • 3+ years of experience building web or desktop applications
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field

Software Engineer:

Responsibilities

  • Identify performance bottlenecks in PHP applications
  • Provide code optimization recommendations
  • Prototype and implement optimization techniques
  • Benchmark existing code and enhancements
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Code primarily in PHP
  • Interface with other team members to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
  • Identify and communicate best practices

Requirements

  • A passion for performance debugging and benchmarking' Knowledge of PHP and system profiling tools
  • Adept knowledge of the PHP API
  • Experience building PHP applications and frameworks
  • Basic knowledge of PHP internals and Apache architecture
  • Experience working with Apache/PHP in high-performance environments
  • Interest in working on the second largest PHP website in the world
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred
